Biography
Jonas Burgwinkel is a very sought after player in the european jazzscene. He studied drums at music colleges in Cologne, Boston and Maastricht with Michael Küttner, Ralph Peterson and Jamey Haddad.
He won the “BEST SOLOIST AWARD” on the “European Jazz Competition” at the “North Sea Jazzfestival” in Rotterdam, the prestigous “WDR JAZZPREIS” in Germany and the Dutch Tritone Award among others.
The press refers to him often as one of the leading young percussion players of the European Jazzscene.Burgwinkel also holds the drum Professor chair at the reknown “HfMT Köln”.
During his young career he has already recorded over 40 jazz albums and toured worldwide in numerous different settings with artists like Mark Murphy, Lee Konitz, Uri Caine, Antonio Farao, John Taylor, Nils Wogram, Joachim Kühn or Dave Liebman.
